How does Anavar work?

Anavar, the trademarked name of the drug oxandrolone (a.k.a. oxandrin), is a synthesized steroid that Raphael Pappo of Searle Laboratories (now Pfizer Inc.) originally designed to treat muscle-wasting diseases.
